Domino Pendant Tutorial Work In Progress

Its my first time to work on a kit and tutorial...and i never knew how much fun it could be. You have to go through a whole project, carefully document each step of the way. You need to keep in mind the steps and always keep thinking if each move you make is a step that needs to be photographed....

I actually finished all the photos and now I'm on to writing down and formatting the tutorial itself...I'm enjoying myself.. Here's a little peek...

As you can see , its gonna have lots and lots of pictures and detailed descriptions to go along!!!  I'd say I'm maybe 45% done...hopefully tomorrow it will be 100%... Here are the finished pendants that you end up with at the end of the tutorial...
Of course the designs of the images may vary in the kit.  And look still a lot of resin left over (the sampler size resin kit was used for the tutorial) from the pouring....

And of course I offered some suggestions on what you can do with the leftovers....Here's what i did...

I'm soo excited to put it up in the shop. I will be offering it in 3 ifferent ways...1- As part of a whole kit and tutorial   2- as part of a kit and tutorial but with no resin (for those that already have their own resin) and  3- as just the tutorial (for those that want to get the materials themselves, separtely).

Just another day or two, i'll have it in my FB shop. But, I'll be posting it also on my etsy shop for my international customers!!! Can't wait!

Flower Cane...Step by step Pictures

Rainy, cold weather seems to make me very creative...I started out watching this youtube video (click here) and wanted to give it a try.

Although it didn't come out like the cane in the video, I still loved how it came out...Here are a series of pictures that takes you through a step by step on how to make the cane...

I took 3 colors...white, pink, and violet and from those made to sheets using the skinner blend technique...

Fold up sheets like below making widths of both sheets similar...

Run each sheet through your pasta machine (i ran it through the thickest setting)..

Roll up the long strips starting with the white end...

You end up with these 2 fat logs. I sort of squeeze them together so that the ends are smooth like the log on the right side...

Cut the logs in half and further into 8 pieces each...

Separate pieces...

and insert alternating pieces as follows...

slowly start to squeeze the block of clay...

Squeeze  the bottom part more to start to form a petal shape...

I cut the cane in half to see what it looks like...starting to look nice...

I shape it more like a petal by smooshing the ends together... I like to keep half of the cane the way it is (large) to use as petals for bigger flowers... the other half is reduced further...

I reduced the cane further and covered it with a fuscia colored sheet... cut it into 6 pieces and start to assemble into a flower...

Make a round cane for the center...

Start to fill in the space between the petals...yellow...

violet...

pink...

Reduce by squeezing..I squeezed from the center but it looks like its distorting...
oh no..is it a failure...

I cut it in half and see a pretty flower....success! I take half and put that away...

The other half I reduce further and cover around with another sheet of fuscia...

Ta-da...the whole lot...Even the scrap clay look nice....

Hope you enjoyed the step by step. Hope you can make your own from the pictures...

That's all for now..have a great day!

Get Cozy - Iron Craft Challenge #4

This week's challenge at the Iron Craft was to make a coffee cozy.I thought about crocheting one, however, I'm still a novice at crochet so I decided to create one in felt.

I actually thought about this design at night when I suddenly got a craving for a caffe latte.  However, as part of my new year's resolution to lose weight, I vowed to drink less coffee to minimize the fatty milk I take in. I am a coffee lover so, this is a big deal for me...it almost breaks my heart. I haven't completely removed coffee entirely..though...and I just have to look forward to those days that I do get to have it....

So here's how I made my coffee cozy...

1. First I brought out the felt...so many pretty colors. I had to chose which ones to use...

2. Trace out the shapes needed.... and cut out all the pieces....

3. Use the glue gun to glue the pink pieces together and the brown pieces together...

4. Pink thread is used to stitch around the edges of the heart.... do this for both sides of the heart...

5. Use scissors along the flat edge of the heart to cut four small holes...then thread pieces of yarn like you would a shoelace. I used 4 pieces of yarn together...

6. I brought out my rhinestone hot fix tool and swarovski rhinestones for bling... lined up how the blings would look before heat fixing them on...

7. Now glue the heart to the band and decorate the band with the bling....here's the unfolded cozy....

And the cozy in action....on my coca cola collectible glass...

Hope you enjoyed making the cozy with me :-) You can check out other cozies on the iron craft flickr group - here

Pink Bear Prototype

I've been working on designing a small pink plush bear. First, drew up the body on paper.

After cutting it out on cardboard, I tried out what different eyes would look.

Time to cut out the pattern pieces on your felt cloth.

Time to piece the bear together. I use a blanket stitch. Start by sewing the triangular nose onto the white oval piece and sew the oval piece onto the pink body on the head section. Next sew the eyes on.

Pinch the bottom of the ears and sew the two ends together.

Sew the white oval belly part.

Next you sew on the ears.

Using the blanket stitch, sew the front and back pieces together. Sew only the head section together. Before sewing down the sides, stuff the head section with fiber fill. Then sew down along both sides.

Stuff the rest of the body and close off the ends.

Here's the finished pink bear prototype -

I think I need to work on this guy's eyes. Maybe something a bit smaller and teary looking. Perhaps a rounder head. Whatcha think??
