WIP Eva Shawl

I sure love starting projects...today I started on an Eva Shawl.... I got the free pattern from Ravelry (click here for PDF). It's a little more complicated compared to the one's I've worked on but so far so good....

I've been seriously getting healthy and eating salads...Although, it's not anything crafty, I thought I'd share what I made today....

Salad is made of mixed greens...iceberg, romaine and leaf lettuce, tomatos, pineapple and dalandan (which are like small oranges)...and i made my own vinagrette dressing.

My sandwich is a tuna salad with mustard, lettuce and tomatoes on wheat bread.

Yummy!!! I was happy with my lunch! Now, back to crocheting....

WIP

Whenever I buy new craft supplies, I always want to start a new project...like right away! After my yarn acquisition last week, I immediately started a new afghan project. I chose the slate blue ball of yarn since I noticed quite a lot of them in stock at my supplier. I wanted a very big blanket so I will need to go back and get more of these balls of yarns in the near future.

Here's my current WIP...so far I have 5 rows of the cluster V stitch that I learned in youtube here.

I also have some cotton yarns that I am planning to make into a crochet mandala that I read about..so that will be another WIP soon...pictures to come!

Yarn Addiction

It's official...I am totally addicted to yarn! I went out and explored the local yarn shop in Pasig city that I've read a lot about. I left my house late in the afternoon to avoid the hot sun. I didn't know that the stalls close shop by 5 pm. I jumped on a jeep and got there around4:45pm. Luckily the stall owner stayed open for me until I was able to pick out a few balls of yarn. I wanted to spend more time exploring the bags and shelves of yarn he had but instead, decided to tally up my loot and promised the shop owner I'll come back again for the cotton yarns.

And here they are...what feeds my addiction.... (sorry for the ugly pics...too excited to post)

I got 3 big balls of this light green yarn that super soft and fluffy...

2 black balls (these ones are a little thinner...I don't quite know the names of the weights of yarn yet)

2 balls each of blue (with a greyish tone), maroon and light brown

3 soft and gorgeous balls of pink yarn 

and 1 each of these other balls...green, teal, greyish black, maroon, purple, aqua

I also got some thin balls of chenille type of yarn...1 lavander, 2 light brown, 5 maroon and 1 small black ball. I forgot to take pictures of them....

I really love all of them and I can't wait to go back for more!!!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all crafters out there! I started the new year great by completing my shawl project over vacation. 

I spent every moment I could find crocheting and completing this project. I still had a bit of the blue yarn left so I've been using it to practice and learn a few crochet stitches. Here's a granny square I did yesterday

I'm really excited to start a new project (maybe a shawl?) but still haven't gotten a chance to go out and get some since I've been feeling under the weather the past two days.  I heard about a really inexpensive place to buy yarn here and as soon as I feel better, I'm sure to explore.

I do have a stash of yarn that I have been working on...or reclaiming. I am recycling an old sweater that I got at the local thrift stalls. I don't have a before picture of the sweater since I was so excited to jump in and pull the yarn apart. But here is one of the hanks that I reclaimed from the sweater

After soaking and stretching the yarn, it still has a bit of curly kinky-ness to it. I'll give it another stretching today before I roll it into a ball of usable yarn. I have 3 more of these ready to be stretched. What a bargain for only P10...or .23 cents (in US dollar) Now, I just have to plan what to do with them.

By the way, recycling yarn is really great and economical. Since I live in a tropical country, sweaters are totally ignored at thrift stores. But, you can get some wonderful yarn from them. Hm...this calls for another visit to my favorite "ukay" (that's what thrift stores are called in the Philippines).
