The focal bead is a ceramic Spherical Orb that is super glossy. The colors remind me of mystic, swirling puffs of gas. I feel like if you just hold it the right way, it could somehow turn into a Time Machine that magically takes you back to an ancient era...if only in the imagination....

MAGIA NEL BOSCO (MAGIC IN THE FOREST)

This is my newest heirloom treasure tin, MAGIA NEL BOSCO which means MAGIC IN THE FOREST in Italian. It is a one of a kind piece inspired by Chris K of Mandarin Moon. I wanted to bestow upon it an aura and feel of walking in the forest, all the while, discovering magic all around.

My Bead Soup Partner

I'm so excited to be part of the Bead Soup Party. I'd like to introduce to you my partner...Noemi Baena.

Since the shipping is international, it will take a bit of time before she gets it but as soon as she does, I'll reveal the beads in another blog post!

Polymer Clay Exhibit at La Salle University

Lots of new things have been keeping me busy lately...

First, Our local polymer clay guild, the Philippine Polymer Clay Guild was invited to participate in the "Pinoy Art Exhibit" of Yabang Pinoy at De La Salle University from August 8-10. Each day, different members of the guild helped watch the booth and displayed some of their creations (as well as the Trash to Treasure Challenge Entries)...

It was really nice to finally meet some of the members of the group...here are a few photos of the event taken on the last day...

And one of my favorite photos from the event was taken by Riezl An Leabres-Carpio...

It is of my polymer clay pens which I call Penny Pens...

I love how she captured the colors of the decorated pens! I'm definitely making more of these for the upcoming bazaars!

Second, We have a new challenge for the month of August. I'm still trying to think of something I could do for that...only half a month left...

Third, I have signed up and joined the Bead Soup Party hosted by Lori of Pretty Things. I have emailed my partner and commented on her blog and I'm awaiting for a response...hopefully, by tomorrow, which will be the third day, I will hear from her.

Fourth, I am frantically working on ideas for products I can sell for the upcoming Christmas rush....seems so early doesn't it. Actually, the "Ber" months are almost here and I need to be prepared this time. I already have a list going on and I try to work on this everyday...

Here's what I worked on yesterday...it is a polymer clay covered tin which was inspired by the beautiful work of Christine Kapono of Mandarin Moon.... I love her art...she does amazing polymer clay pieces...

Here is what I created, I call it 

DEL FONDO MARINO

(which means Ocean Floor in Spanish)

So far I just have the top of the tin covered but I also wanted to add clay along the sides of the tin box. I love how it turned out...especially after antiquing the baked top with brown and black acrylic paints.

Well, its a busy busy month...but I sure am enjoying it!

Flower Cane...Step by step Pictures

Rainy, cold weather seems to make me very creative...I started out watching this youtube video (click here) and wanted to give it a try. 

Although it didn't come out like the cane in the video, I still loved how it came out...Here are a series of pictures that takes you through a step by step on how to make the cane...

I took 3 colors...white, pink, and violet and from those made to sheets using the skinner blend technique...

Fold up sheets like below making widths of both sheets similar...

Run each sheet through your pasta machine (i ran it through the thickest setting)..

Roll up the long strips starting with the white end...

You end up with these 2 fat logs. I sort of squeeze them together so that the ends are smooth like the log on the right side...

Cut the logs in half and further into 8 pieces each...

Separate pieces...

 and insert alternating pieces as follows...

slowly start to squeeze the block of clay...

Squeeze  the bottom part more to start to form a petal shape...

I cut the cane in half to see what it looks like...starting to look nice...

I shape it more like a petal by smooshing the ends together... I like to keep half of the cane the way it is (large) to use as petals for bigger flowers... the other half is reduced further...

I reduced the cane further and covered it with a fuscia colored sheet... cut it into 6 pieces and start to assemble into a flower...

Make a round cane for the center...

Start to fill in the space between the petals...yellow...

violet...

pink...

Reduce by squeezing..I squeezed from the center but it looks like its distorting...

oh no..is it a failure...

I cut it in half and see a pretty flower....success! I take half and put that away...

The other half I reduce further and cover around with another sheet of fuscia...

Ta-da...the whole lot...Even the scrap clay look nice....
